We thought when we decided to record this album, it would be a good
time to reflect on what we have done in the past and what we are ´doing
at the moment.
The tracks were chosen for the following reasons.
`Ye Jacobites By Name`(Spirit of Scotland)
`Kismuil` Galley`(Bright Lights 1991)
`Sometimes`(Bright Lights 1991)
were previously recorded on audio cassette, and we wanted to capture them on CD.
`Matt Hyland`
`Twa Recruiting Sairgeants`
`The Rolling Hills o`the Borders`
and`Gentlemen Soldier`
are songs we have been performing live for some time now, but had never got around to recording them.
`Nancy Spain`
and `The Newry Highwayman`
are two songs we had always wanted to perform and took this opportunity to arrange and record them.
`I Will Go` we have recorded by request of our German friends, especially Monika and Susan.
`Beef Can Close` previously recorded on the `Tobermory Nights` album.
`Reelin`In The City Caffeén`, is a reminder of some of our Danish friends and session nights.
The last two tracks are new and were written by George.`The Last To Be Remembered` is
personal to him."I grew up in a mining community. Their working and
social lives were an influential part of my upbringing. However times
changed and the coal mines closed, either through natural, economic or
political reasons. In March 2002, the last deep mine in Scotland
suffered such a fate, when a holding wall collapsed and the mine was
flodded. Along with the mine, the last vestige of the spirit and values
of these proud working men was gone."
`King Of The Autobahn` is
dedicated to our German pal Jürgen, for demonstrating his Autobahn
driving, especially his overtaking skills:that´s why the tune is so
fast!!!!!!!
We hope you enjoy this partly retrospective album, and if you´ve any ideas for the next one-------let us know!
Alex and George
